Croatia to help demine Luhansk region

Croatia will help demine the Luhansk region.

Serhii Haidai, the head of the Luhansk regional military administration, stated this in his Telegram-channel.

Serhii Haidai noted that Croatia will help Ukraine with demining specialists and equipment.

“️The first thing that is done after the stabilization measures in the de-occupied territories is demining. Initially, we will examine the roads and the territory of critical infrastructure. Croatia has agreed to provide assistance in mine clearance, both with specialists and equipment,” Serhii Haidai said.

Haidai also said that demining the entire Luhansk region of Ukraine will take at least 10 years.

Croatian assistance

Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, Croatia has allocated more than $40 million in the form of humanitarian and military goods for the needs of the Ukrainian state, and also sheltered more than 22 thousand Ukrainians.

In October, it became known that Croatia was also ready to treat and rehabilitate wounded Ukrainian defenders.

This was announced by the Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Olena Kondratiuk, following a meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister/Minister:Veteran Affairs at the Republic of Croatia, Tomo Medved.

“Friendly Croatia is ready to to treat and rehabilitate wounded Ukrainian defenders! We agreed on this with the Deputy Prime Minister/Minister:Veteran Affairs at the Republic of Croatia,” she said.

In October, the Prime Minister of Croatia stated that his country would never recognize the annexation of the occupied Ukrainian regions.

“Croatia will never recognize the annexation of the occupied Ukrainian regions, as it did not recognize the annexation of Crimea. We strongly condemn Russia’s futile attempt to appropriate parts of Ukrainian land through fake referendums,” Andrej Plenković said.

Also, Croatia became the last state to decide on joining Ukraine’s lawsuit against Russia under the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, which is being considered by the International Court of Justice.
