For the Armed Forces will be upgrade Kolchuga electronic intelligence system
For the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Kolchuga passive sensor is an electronic-warfare support measures will be upgraded.

The scientific and production complex “Target” received a contract from the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine for the repair and modernization of the passive electronic long-range electronic intelligence system Kolchuga of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Defense-industrial courier reported.
The order for the modernization of Kolchuga in an interview was announced by Vitalii Yakovlev, Deputy Director of the scientific and production complex “Target”.
According to him, it is a matter of significantly improving the characteristics of the airspace passive surveillance station.
Deputy Director of the scientific and production complex Target noted that in the future additional contracts from the Ministry of Defense are not excluded, but for this the enterprise needs to expand production, in particular, to find additional premises for such work.
Kolchuga is Ukrainian vehicle-mounted passive long range electronic intelligence system. Kolchuga’s operation is based on the ‘passive radiolocation’ principle, which means to say that the radar can spot hostile emissions from land, sea or aerial platforms while remaining ‘invisible’ to enemy detection assets due to the absence of own radiation.
Kolchuga passive sensor is based on two KrAZ-260 off-road chassis. A complex consisting of three Kolchuga radar stations makes it possible to spot ground and surface targets and trace their movements within a radius of 600 kilometers (air targets at the 10 km altitude – up to 800 km) along a front of 1,000 km, which makes an effective early warning air defense system.
For the first time, Kolchuga-M was presented to the general public in 2000 at the exhibition Sofex-2000 in Jordan.
It should be reminded that in May 2020, the Ukroboronservice State Enterprise, which is part of Ukroboronprom SC, presented the airspace passive surveillance station Kolchuga-KE, restored after a long downtime.
This proved that the defense-industrial complex on the Ukrainian government-controlled territory is able to serve and modernize the complexes, that were manufactured by the Donetsk enterprise Topaz.
At that time, the Ukroboronprom State Concern said that it is ready to resume production of modern passive sensors such as Kolchuga at the facilities of its enterprises. However, as you know, the production has not been established.
