The German government greenlighted the sale to Ukraine of 100 Panzerhaubitze 2000. The decision was made on July 13, but Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) company confirmed the delivery only recently.

Der Spiegel reported about this.

Ukraine applied to Germany for the PzH 2000 purchase back in April. According to KMW the 100 Panzerhaubitze 2000 contract value equals to €1.7 billion. This sum exceeds largely the cost of weapons that Germany has already transferred to Ukraine (€600 million).

The production of the contracted equipment is will last for several years, at the same time the contract performance begins immediately. According to Krauss-Maffei Wegmann, the contract fulfillment also depends on the supply of the necessary materials. All these details are in line with Ukraine.

The production of self-propelled howitzers will continue for several years. While the date of delivery is not yet disclosed, this deal is primarily designed to strengthen the Ukrainian army.

As previously reported, the Minister of Defense of Germany, Christine Lambrecht said that three MARS II MLRS and three more PzH 2000 were sent to Ukraine.

Previously, Germany and the Netherlands handed over 12 PzH 2000 self-propelled howitzers to Ukraine, which are already operating on the battlefield.

Later, its started talking about transferring six more PzH 2000 to Ukraine.
