In the Russian city of Kursk, a fire near the airfield was reported.

The authorities of the region declared a drone attack. An oil storage tank caught fire as a result of it. The fire is now being extinguished.

Roman Starovoyt, governor of the Kursk region, announced this.

The fire occurred in the morning of December 6.

“As a result of a drone attack, an oil storage tank caught fire near the Kursk airfield. No casualties were reported. The fire is contained. All special services are working on the spot,” the governor of the region wrote in his Telegram channel.

According to eyewitness reports on social media, the drone attack was a reason for this large-scale fire.

Local residents are publishing photos and videos from the scene.

Residents of several districts of the Russian city could observe fire and smoke from the airfield area.

Kursk East Airport is located in Kursk, Russia. It is a joint-base airfield used by both military and civilian aircraft. Since February 24, when the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine began, this airfield does not serve civilian aircraft but is used for military purposes.

If to believe the Russian reports about the drone, then this attack near the airfield in Kursk was the third in Russia in the last two days.

As previously reported, the day before, aerial drones attacked Russian military airfields near Saratov and Ryazan.

The Tu-22M3 strategic missile carrier with the tail number RF-34110 (“02” red) has suffered damage as a result of the attack on the Diaghilev strategic aviation base of the Russian Aerospace Forces. Тu-22М3 was armed with a Kh-22 cruise missile and was probably preparing to participate in the strike on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
