In the Mykolaiv direction, a crew of antitank division of marines of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is in constant combat readiness.

ArmyInform, a news agency of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine informs about this.

As soon as reconnaissance information about the enemy armored vehicle’s movement is received, the marines equipped with the Javelin ATGM immediately dispatch in the required direction.

Ukrainian marines are constantly training to use the FGM-148 Javelin portable anti-tank missile systems of American production.

“We study various information when we have time, train ourselves, and share our experience with others who have recently joined the unit,” said one of the marines, Denys.

The servicemen shared that recently their ATGM crew destroyed an enemy tank and an infantry fighting vehicle.

FGM-148 Javelin anti-tank missile system has repeatedly proven its effectiveness in combating Russian armored vehicles.

According to the servicemen, the peculiarities of using this ATGM are more designed for defense operations, but the marines are ready to perform any task of destroying the enemy equipment.

“In our direction, the enemy “buried” itself because they are afraid. But we will still look for a tiny opening through which to aim with this system or other weapons. We have everything, and the main thing is the desire to win,” Mykola, the marine, said.

Javelin is a man-portable surface-to-air missile, manufactured by the American companies Raytheon and Lockheed Martin. The missile has a thermal homing head. Javelin is a fire-and-forget missile that allows the operator to hide immediately after the shot. It is in service with the armed forces of the United States and several other countries. The system is designed to destroy armored vehicles and air targets at low altitudes (helicopters, UAVs).

The FGM-148 Javelin ATGM missile has a thermal homing head, so the operator of the missile system does not need to monitor and adjust the flight of the missile after launch while it is approaching the target.

Previously, Militarnyi published a manual on how to operate the Javelin anti-tank system.
