Inadequate Medical Care Accounts for More Than Half of Russian Military Deaths

Russian soldiers are dying and being maimed in large numbers due to poor first aid.

Artem Katulin, head of the Russian training center for tactical medicine, voiced this in an interview with the Russian propaganda media.

According to Katulin, more than half of the deaths among the military of the Russian invasion forces are not due to life-threatening injuries; many amputations are caused by improper tourniquet application.

“Today’s statistics are sad: more than 30% of amputations are due to incorrect application of a tourniquet, more than 50% of all deaths are from non-life-threatening injuries,” he said.

The main problems in the field of Russian medical care remain the low level of training in the field of first aid, as well as the impossibility of quickly transporting the wounded to hospitals.

In addition to inadequate training of personnel in tactical medicine, another vice of the Russian army is the low quality of tactical first-aid kits, which still include the archaic Esmarch tourniquet, but lack modern medical equipment.

Another problem is the poor staffing of demobilized personnel, even with such elementary means.

Currently, according to the head of the educational center, they are trying to correct the situation.

Militarnyi reported that new first aid kits for the army are being developed in Russia. It was decided at a recent meeting under the auspices of the Military-Industrial Commission of the Russian Federation to review the composition of the staff first aid kit.

Tactical medicine in Ukraine

Come Back Alive Foundation is raising funds for mobile educational and training centers for tactical medicine, which will help save the lives of Ukrainian soldiers.

The project called “Holding you!” plans to raise UAH 20,800,000. 6,860,000 of that amount have already been transferred by the Ciklum team.

Together with a partner, the Foundation plans to deploy eight mobile educational and training centers for tactical medicine at training grounds in the north, south, east, and west of Ukraine. Each of them must be fully equipped with educational and specialized training equipment and training consumables.
