During the morning shelling of Kyiv, the invaders used Tu-95 and Tu-160 bomber jets. They took off in Astrakhan, and missiles were launched from the Caspian Sea.

This was stated by Yurii Ihnat, Spokesperson of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Babel correspondent reports.

He noted that the invaders used Kh-101 missiles.

“The invaders fired at Kyiv from Tu-95 and Tu-160 strategic bomber jets with Kh-101 missiles, which have a range of 5.5 thousand kilometers,” he said.

On the morning of June 26, the invaders launched a missile attack on the Ukrainian capital. An apartment block in the Shevchenkivskyi district was hit.

According to the preliminary data, one civilian was killed. Rescuers managed to save from the rubble a 7-year-old child and a woman.

According to Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko, 25 residents were evacuated from the house, and 4 people were hospitalized.

Another missile hit the territory of the kindergarten near the residential building.

Kh-101 is a strategic cruise air-to-surface missile using technologies to reduce radar visibility. Developed by the Raduga Design Bureau (1995-2013).

The missile was built using the new technological basis and has, according to Russian officials, exclusively Russian equipment.

It uses a combined guidance system and can receive information both on a route and on coordinates of the target.

Unlike previous-generation missiles, there is a fundamental possibility of changing the target after the missile was already launched.

The missile adjusts its route with the help of an inertial navigation system, a laser altimeter, and a homing head is turned on in front of the target. The weight of the Kh-101 warhead is 400 kg.

The missile can be high-explosive, penetrating, cassette, and thermobaric.

As previously reported, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports that the invaders have focused their main efforts on the Lysychansk direction and are now trying to surround the city.
