Japan will be handing over NBC suits, NBC masks, and drones to Ukraine

Japan will be sending the masks and clothing designed to protect against chemical weapons, as well as drones to Ukraine.

Japan will be sending to Ukraine a batch of nuclear, biological, and chemical protection (NBC) suits and masks, as well as unmanned aerial vehicles, to help the country fight off a Russian invasion, said the Japanese Defense Ministry on Twitter.

“Japan’s Ministry of Defense decided to newly provide NBC suits, NBC masks, and Drones to Ukrainian government. The fight of Ukrainians to defend their country still continues so that JMOD will continue our utmost support. For Ukraine,” the tweet reads.

The report does not specify the size of the batch and when the aid will be deployed.

It is also not clear what type and purpose of drones would be transferred to Ukraine.

Previously, at the beginning of March, an intergovernmental agreement was signed in the form of an exchange of notes between Ukraine and Japan.

The agreement regarded the provision of protective equipment to the Government of Ukraine for the needs of the Armed Forces free of charge.

“Such an act took place for the first time in the history of Japan. I want you to know that Japan is providing unprecedented support to Ukraine,” said Ambassador Serhiy Korsunsky.

According to the agreement, Japan will be providing the Ukrainian servicemen with body armor, helmets, tents, and winter clothes.

Besides, they will be transferring medicines, generators, and other various equipment to be used in emergencies.
