Raytheon has transferred two NASAMS systems for Ukraine to the US government

The manufacturer Raytheon Technologies handed over two NASAMS SAMs, which are intended for Ukraine, to the US government.

Raytheon’s CEO Greg Hayes announced this in his interview with CNBC, writes DefenseNews.

“We did just deliver two NASAMS systems. … We delivered two of them to the government a couple of weeks ago. They’re being installed in Ukraine [imminently]. It is a short-range air defense system, and it can fire, and it could knock down everything in the sky from drones to ballistic missiles to fighter jets,” Hayes said.

After Russian attacks on Ukraine’s infrastructure, the Pentagon stated that it would accelerate the transfer of these systems to Ukraine. This regarded speeding up the production and transmission of air defense systems as fast as possible.

The United States first announced the transfer of two NASAMS SAM systems to Ukraine in July. Subsequently, on August 24, they announced the future transfer of another 6 systems.

NASAMS SAM is produced by a consortium of the American corporation Raytheon Technologies and the Norwegian group Kongsberg.

The system includes launchers and Raytheon AN/MPQ-64F1 Sentinel radar stations from the Raytheon and Kongsberg consortium.

Raytheon is responsible for supplying AIM-120 AMRAAM medium-range air-to-air missiles for this system, and Kongsberg supplies launchers.

Each mobile launcher is equipped with six containers with anti-aircraft missiles. SAM is in service or has been delivered to 12 countries.

The range of the NASAMS II anti-aircraft system configuration using AIM-120С AMRAAM missiles is up to 25 km, and the reach in altitude is up to 14-15 km.
