The European Union will additionally allocate €1 million to conduct demining in Ukraine.

Josep Borrell, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, announced this during a press conference in Łódź, Ukrinform reports.

A two-day meeting of the Council of Ministers of the OSCE is taking place in Lodz, Poland.

“At this meeting, we will present a proposal to support Ukraine and the OSCE. I will announce the allocation of an additional 1 million euros for demining operations in Ukraine within the framework of the OSCE,” Borrell informed.

According to the State Emergency Service, at the beginning of November, Ukrainian forces managed to neutralize 271,447 dangerous objects. This regards the work since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine.

At the same time, Ukraine is receiving demining assistance from the USA, Canada, Great Britain, Denmark, Norway, Estonia, Austria, Poland, Japan, Switzerland, Sweden, Slovakia, and UN institutions.

Cyprus and Latvia also announced demining training for the Ukrainian military.

Discussions on assistance in demining were also covered during the meeting of the defense ministers of Ukraine and New Zealand.

As previously reported, specialists of one of the Ukroboronprom State Concern enterprises created a prototype of a metal-burning product called SF-1. Its shape resembles a pencil.

Thanks to the exothermic powder mixture that it is filled with, the device effectively burns the metal shells of explosive objects, for example, ammunition.

After that, the explosive substance burns out the inside of the ammunition case. It is emphasized that such a tool can be used to demine the territories.

Developers are already designing the technology for remote use of the (MPM) SF-1 with the assistance of unmanned aerial vehicles.
