The German government allowed the transfer of Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine and agreed to the re-export of these tanks from other countries.

The statement was published on the Government’s website.

It is noted that at the first stage, 14 Leopard 2A6 tanks from the Bundeswehr stockpiles will be provided to Ukraine.

“This decision aligns with our well-known line of supporting Ukraine to the best of our ability. We act in a closely coordinated international manner,” Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz stated.

Besides, Ukrainian military training will begin soon.

In addition, Germany will provide logistical support along with ammunition for the tanks.

The Government website also states that the main goal is to “quickly establish two tank battalions equipped with Leopard 2 tanks for Ukraine.”

As previously reported, a coalition of 12 countries is ready to provide tanks to Ukraine.

It was also reported that Sweden is considering transferring its Stridsvagn 122 tanks to Ukraine.
