Volunteers War with Russia

The Freedom of Russia Legion, the Russian Volunteer Corps, and the Sibir Battalion have entered the Kursk and Belgorod regions of the Russian Federation as part of a joint operation.

Russian opposition leader Ilya Ponomarev announced this on the morning of Tuesday, March 12.

According to him, the militants took control of the border village of Lozova Rudka in the Belgorod region.

In addition, small-arms fighting continues in Tyotkino, Kursk region.

Local residents of the Russian border settlements report the movement of armored vehicles and people with yellow armbands and shooting battles.

At the same time, fighters of the Freedom of Russia Legion said they were “going to the elections.” In the video address, they explained their actions by their desire to liberate Russia from Putin’s dictatorship. They posted a video of themselves crossing the Ukrainian-Russian border.

“Like all of our fellow citizens, we in the Freedom of Russia Legion dream of a Russia liberated from Putin’s dictatorship. But we don’t just dream: we are working hard to make those dreams come true,” the Legion’s address in a telegram reads.

The Sibir Battalion published a video of a small arms battle after crossing the Ukrainian-Russian border.

Subsequently, the Freedom of Russia Legion published footage of a Russian armored personnel carrier in the village of Tyotkino. The vehicle was between the houses.

Andrii Yusov, the representative of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, said that Russian volunteer units fighting on the side of Ukraine – the Freedom of Russia Legion, the Russian Volunteer Corps, and the Sibir Battalion – operate on the territory of the Russian Federation as “independent structures and organizations” consisting of Russian citizens and, accordingly, “are at home.”

“There is likely a joint operation of these units on the territory of the so-called Russia,” Yusov emphasized.

Russian authorities have not yet commented on the fighting in the border areas of the Belgorod and Kursk regions.
