The United States has ordered a batch of RAM Block 2/2A for itself and the foreign customers

Raytheon will supply a batch of RAM Block 2/2A anti-aircraft guided missiles to the U.S. Navy.

This was announced in a press release by the Ministry of Defense of the United States.

The missiles will also be received by several other partner states of the United States.

The Rolling Airframe Missile (RAM) is a small, lightweight, infrared homing surface-to-air missile in use by the Navy. Block 2 is an upgraded version of the RAM missile designed to more effectively counter more maneuverable anti-ship missiles.

The American company Raytheon Missile and Defense has signed a contract with the U.S. Navy with a fixed value of $102.19 million.

The contract includes the supply of RAM Block 2/2A anti-aircraft guided missiles.

The contract will be financed from the U.S. Navy budget for 2022 and through the “Foreign Military Sale” (FMS) program.

In addition, the project covers the supply of spare parts and re-certification.

This contract combines purchases for the Navy (75%), the government of Egypt (17%), the government of Japan (4%), the government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) (3%), and the government of Turkey (1%).

Works will be performed in Tucson, Arizona (48%), Ottobrunn, Germany (33%), Keyser, West Virginia (8%), Glenrothes Fife, Scotland (3%), Midland, Canada (1%), and various other locations each under 1%.

The project contract is expected to be completed by March 2025.

Allocated purchase funds will be distributed as follows: U.S. Navy – $75.47 million (75%), Egypt – $17.2 million (17%), Japan – $4.87 million (4%), UAE – $3.11 million (3%), Turkey – $0.46 million (1%).
