Ukraine received Alvis 4 armored vehicles

The Ukrainian Armed Forces received foreign Alvis 4 armored vehicles.

Photos with a batch of armored vehicles in Ukraine were released on social networks.

The vehicles were manufactured in Great Britain and then used in Estonia.

This type of armored vehicle was involved in peacekeeping operations in South Africa and Kosovo.

At first glance, the armored personnel carrier resembles a somewhat bulky but ordinary armored personnel carrier, though it was developed not only as an armored personnel carrier, but also as a mine-protected vehicle for operations in areas where landmines are possible.

It was developed after a several configurations of anti-mine vehicles specially designed to counter the conditions of mine warfare that once prevailed along the borders of South Africa and the former Rhodesia.

It has an armored lower part with inclined plates designed to repel a strong explosion of a mine from the vehicle.

The steel upper part of the hull can be armored almost in accordance with the requirements, but usually only resistant to fire from small arms and fragments of ammunition.

In the cabin, the commander and driver sit side by side, and servicemen sit in the immediate proximity behind; entrance to all positions is through the rear door.

The commander has a hatch in the roof, over which a machine gun can be installed if necessary.

All passengers are provided with bulletproof windows.

Previously, Ukrainian forces also received Polish-made DZIK armored vehicles.
