The aviation of Russian Federation invasion forces lost its Su-25 attack aircraft in the Kharkiv region.

Enemy aircraft tried to attack the Ukrainian military.

To neutralize the Russian fighter jet, which was flying at low altitudes, soldiers of the Defense Forces used portable anti-aircraft missile systems (MANPADS).

The servicemen released a video featuring the defeat of at least one Russian Su-25. The footage captured a moment when an anti-aircraft missile catches up with the jet and shoots it down.

Subsequently, the information was published on Russian propaganda social media pages that Ukrainian defenders shot down a Su-25SM attack aircraft in the Izium district of the Kharkiv Region.

Su-25 is a single-seat armored subsonic attack aircraft designed to provide fire support to the ground forces over the battlefield day and night with visual visibility of the target, as well as destroy the objects with specified coordinates around the clock under any weather conditions.

Su-25 is a highly protected combat aircraft. Its survivability systems account for 7.2% of normal takeoff weight or 1050 kg. Life-important systems are duplicated and protected.

Special attention is paid to the protection of critical components and elements of the cockpit and the fuel system.

The fighter jet has a powerful range of weapons, including aircraft bombs of various calibers and purpose, guided and unguided air-to-ground missiles, and guided air-to-air missiles.

The portable anti-aircraft missile system, from which our military shot down a Russian Su-25SM, is designed to defeat low-flying helicopters and enemy aircraft.

In June, soldiers of the 72nd Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine shot down an attack aircraft Su-25 of the Russian Armed Forces from the Igla portable anti-aircraft missile system and captured its pilot.

The prisoner turned out to be a major of the Russian Air Forces, who, under interrogation, admitted that he was a mercenary of the so-called Wagner private military company.
