Belarus plans to increase the size of its army up to 80,000 personnel.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported about this.

The missile and air strike threat from the territory of Belarus remains in Volyn and Polissya directions.

Belarus is planning to increase the size of its army almost twofold from 45,000 military personnel.

“As part of the creation of the southern operational command, the size of the armed forces of Belarus is expected to grow up to 80,000 personnel.

New units will receive military equipment that is currently in storage,” the statement reads.

The General Staff reports that the enemy has not taken active action in the northern direction. No signs of new strike groups were identified.

The enemy continues to keep up to three battalion tactical groups at the border in Bryansk and Kursk regions to demonstrate their presence and to restrain Ukraine’s Defense Forces.

Using open sources it can be estimated that the regular army of Belarus currently has a total of 45 thousand soldiers.

In late May, Lukashenko ordered a new military command of the Belarusian armed forces in the southern direction. Lukashenko’s reason for this decision is an alleged threat from Ukraine.

Lukashenko instructed to create “people’s militia” in the country to strengthen the country’s defense. Belarusian Defense Minister pointed out that this will “greatly increase the number of the country’s defenders”. The decision was made to ensure the armed forces development.

Meanwhile, in Belarus, tanks and infantry fighting vehicles are being taken out from storage bases. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine assumes that Belarusian armored vehicles will be handed over to the Russian military.
