Exchange of POWs: 100 soldiers were returned to Ukraine

Ukraine has conducted another exchange of prisoners of war, and managed to return 100 soldiers. Among them are 80 men and 20 women.

The Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War made a corresponding announcement.

Among the dismissed military personnel are 10 officers, the rest are non-commissioned officers and privates. The youngest of the released defenders is 19 years old.

“This time, it was possible to free 24 soldiers of the National Guard of Ukraine, 22 border guards, 22 soldiers of the Navy, 21 servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and 11 soldiers of the Territorial Defense Forces,” the statement reads.

Released soldiers had taken part in battles in the Kherson, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Kyiv, Zaporozhzhia and Sumy directions.

Among them are defenders of Mariupol, Bakhmut, and Hostomel, as well as defenders of Chongar, Zmiinyi Island, Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, and Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant.

Almost half of the soldiers released from captivity have serious injuries and illnesses or have been tortured.

The Coordinating Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War continues its work on returning war prisoners home.

Russian media report that 106 Russians have returned to the territory of the Russian Federation.

As previously reported, at the beginning of April, Dmytro Lubinets, the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine announced the release of 12 Ukrainian prisoners of war from Russian captivity.
