Germany is in no hurry to name the transfer date for the weapons promised to Ukraine.

This was reported by the German newspaper Tagesspiegel.

A spokesman for the German government Steffen Hebestreit said that for organizational and security reasons it is difficult to discuss supply schedule when it comes to weapons for Ukrainian defenders.

This primarily regards the heavy weapons that Germany has promised Ukraine, he stressed.

“Preparations are underway to make it work. But it doesn’t happen overnight,” Hebestreit said.

He brought up the planned supply of the Gepard SPAAG, the PzH-2000 self-propelled howitzers, the IRIS-T air defense systems, and the Mars II multiple rocket launchers.

However, he added that this issue requires careful inspection, “before you make a statement that may get out of your control.”

Hebestreit stressed that the PzH-2000 self-propelled howitzers are still in Germany because Ukrainian servicemen are currently training with them.

Previously, the Bundeswehr shared some details about the training of Ukrainian artillerymen. The training with German howitzers takes up to 40 days. Artillerymen can make their first Panzerhaubitze 2000 shot after a month of training.
