Germany, along with Denmark and Norway, will finance the production and delivery of the Slovak 155-mm Zuzana 2 self-propelled guns for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Christine Lambrecht, Minister of Defense of Germany, announced this, according to tagesschau.de

The supply of 16 Zuzana 2 self-propelled guns is planned for 2023.

UPD 15:53 Slovak Defense Minister Jaroslav Nagy confirmed the agreements and released a photo capturing the deal being signed.

According to the German TV channel ARD, the value of the contract amounted to €93 million.

Zuzana 2 is a 155-mm wheeled self-propelled gun produced by the Slovak ZTS Special. This is an upgrade to the previous version of the Zuzana with the 155 mm caliber, which in turn, comes after the original model – the Czechoslovak vz.77 Dana.

In 2018, the Slovak military purchased 25 of these artillery systems. They were handed over to the military last July to replace the previous generation.

Due to the 52-caliber barrel length, as opposed to 45-caliber, the gun is capable of shooting at a maximum distance of up to 40 km.

The turret is capable of turning 360 degrees. Due to the automated system, the number of crew members is reduced from 4 to 3.

The howitzer also has a loading mechanism that allows firing in the MRSI mode – several shells can hit the target at the same time.

In June, Ukraine signed a contract for the supply of eight 155mm Zuzana 2 self-propelled guns.
