Ukraine and Slovakia signed a contract to supply eight 155mm Zuzana 2 self-propelled howitzers.

Jaroslav Naď, Minister of Defense of Slovakia, shared this on Twitter.

Previously it was also reported that the Ukrainian military was already undergoing training to use these wheeled self-propelled howitzers.

Today, on June 2, Minister Jaroslav Naď announced the agreement for the supply of these artillery systems being signed.

“We are pleased to confirm that the contract for the Zuzana 2 howitzer for Ukraine is signed – eight units will be delivered to Ukraine,” the Slovak Defense Minister wrote.

The official confirmation of Slovakia transferring the self-propelled artillery systems to the Armed Forces of Ukraine noted that subsequently, eight howitzers will be shipped to Ukraine.

The supply of Zuzana 2 ACS will replenish the Ukrainian army with another 155mm artillery system along with the M109, CAESAR, AHS Krab, M777, FH-70, and the upcoming Panzerhaubitze 2000.

Production of the Slovak Zuzana ACS was established in the 1990s. The base for its system was Czechoslovak vz.77 Dana. However, the new self-propelled howitzer received a 155mm gun with a longer barrel, which increased the range of fire.

Howitzer can strike at a distance of up to 40 km.

The Zuzana 2 self-propelled howitzer received an upgraded chassis with a single armored cabin, a new longer barrel, a new fire control system, etc.

Slovakia started to systematically replace its ACS with the new Zuzana 2 last year. The first eight new 155mm ACSs were transferred to the military on July 22, 2021.

It was previously announced that Slovakia is ready to hand over its Т-72 tank to Ukraine if it receives Leopard 2 tanks from Germany.
