Zuzana: Slovakia officially announces transfer of ACS to Ukraine
Slovakia confirms delivery of eight Zuzana 2 self-propelled howitzers to Ukraine.
This was stated by the Minister of Defense of Slovakia Jaroslav Nai, Defense 24 writes.
He confirmed that currently Ukrainian servicemen are training with howitzers.
Subsequently, eight howitzers will be sent to Ukraine.
Production of the Zuzana self-propelled howitzer in Slovakia was established back in the 1990s. The original model for it was the Czechoslovak vz.77 Dana. The new self-propelled artillery system, however, received a 155mm gun with a longer barrel, which increased its range.
The maximum firing range of Zuzana is 40 kilometers.
In 2021, Slovakia has launched a scheduled replacement of the Zuzana self-propelled howitzer with the new Zuzana 2 model. The first eight new 155mm ACSs were delivered on July 22, 2021.
The supply of Zuzana 2 ACS will replenish the Ukrainian army with another 155-mm artillery system in addition to M109, CAESAR, AHS Krab, M777, FH-70, and in the future Panzerhaubitz 2000.
