Lithuania donated counter-drone systems to the Ukrainian Defense Forces as part of military aid.

The Lithuanian Ministry of Defense reported that the equipment was delivered on Friday, March 22.

The systems are designed to counter enemy drones.

No further details were disclosed for security reasons, nor was the type of systems transferred or information, on which UAVs they were intended to counter.

Recently, Lithuania also handed over a batch of 155-mm artillery ammunition to the Ukrainian military.

In February, Lithuania supplied the Ukrainian Defense Forces with a batch of ammunition for Carl Gustaf recoilless rifles.

In addition, as part of the modernization of the Lithuanian army and to strengthen its logistics capabilities, the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense will purchase Renault D trucks, some of which will be transferred to Ukraine.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive these trucks as part of the Lithuanian-led demining coalition.

Lithuania has also joined the Czech Republic’s initiative to purchase artillery shells for Ukraine outside the European Union. The Lithuanian government has allocated €35 million for this purpose.

Lithuania has thus become one of more than 15 countries to join this initiative, which will speed up the procurement and delivery of the shells to Ukraine.

The military aid provided by Lithuania to Ukraine today includes various weapons, ammunition, drones, counter-drone systems, military training, repair of heavy equipment, and other support requested by Ukraine.

Lithuania has also already developed a plan for long-term assistance for Ukraine for 2024-2026 worth €200 million. The main areas of support will include the purchase of lethal and non-lethal equipment, military training and exercises, financial contributions to aid funds, repair of military equipment in Lithuania, and training of Ukrainian Defense Forces personnel.
