Another country joins the program to help train Ukrainian soldiers in the United Kingdom.

Military professionals from the Netherlands will also train servicemen of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.

Ukraine’s Minister of Defense Oleksii Reznikov wrote about this on his Twitter account.

“Dutch personnel will start their mission this August. The more well-trained fighters we have, the closer our victory,” Reznikov said.

This is another initiative from the Allies to join the UK-led program of training servicemembers of the Ukrainian army.

During the last two weeks, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Sweden and Canada took the same initiative.

Allies seek to increase and improve the ability of Ukrainian forces to resist Russian aggression.

This cooperation was also discussed during the Conference of Northern European Allies in Copenhagen to support Ukraine. Copenhagen Conference raised €1.5B in military aid to Ukraine.

As for the exercises, the countries will send their instructors to Great Britain, where Ukrainian soldiers will be coordinated.

All countries employ different numbers of instructors. What each individual country will focus on is not reported.

At the same time, for example, Denmark offers parallel training on the territory of its country.

Note that this is a statement by Great Britain regarding the training of 10,000 Ukrainian soldiers. Defense Minister of the country Ben Wallace said that there are plans to increase training capabilities. In his opinion, the number of those undergoing training may increase.

Canadian-led UNIFIER training mission

Canada will send the largest number of its instructors to Great Britain – it is about 225 military personnel. This is the relaunch of the UNIFIER training program.

The majority of the Canadian military will serve as trainers with the support of the command and control element for an initial deployment of approximately four months.

The first Canadian-led courses will be rolled out at a military base located in South East England.

The training will follow a flexible curriculum focusing on the individual skills of the soldier required for frontline combat, including weapons handling, battlefield first aid, fieldcraft, patrol tactics, and the Law of Armed Conflict, the country’s government website claims.

The Canadian government stressed that the operation UNIFIER was launched back in 2015 at the request of the Ukrainian government, and early this year, was expanded and extended until March 2025.

The training mission helps to form and increase the capacity of Ukraine’s law enforcement institutions while working towards achieving interoperability with NATO.
