Ukrainian metallurgical enterprises have produced more than a hundred special mobile metal shelters to equip their positions.

The Metinvest reported about this on its official website.

The structures of 2 mm thick corrugated steel are the modernized versions of Soviet-era shelters, modified by the Ukrainian military with the help of metallurgical engineers.

In order to produce one mobile shelter, almost 2 tons of steel are needed, so 100 shelters require a total of 200 tons of metal.

The mobile shelter has already been tested in field conditions. With proper installation, such modules can withstand 152-mm artillery fire.

The shelters are dug 1.5 meters underground and additionally covered with wooden beams for reliability.

The constructions are assembled in sections, the weight of each amounts up to 50 kg. Therefore, if necessary, the capsules can be easily transported without the help of cranes and special equipment.

Such structures do not only protect soldiers from enemy artillery, but also serve as field housing to shelter from rain, wind and frost. To ensure comfort and safety, the company’s specialists have improved the design, taking into account the needs of the military.

The interior of the construction was thought out to the smallest detail, thus there are folding beds, a demountable floor, a compartment for storing weapons, a place for a stove with special devices for drying clothes and shoes, and an emergency exit.

Militarnyi has previously reported on the soldiers of the 95th Air Assault Brigade, who received special metal shelters to strengthen the trenches. Such fortifications are needed for setting up positions.

The Defense Forces of Ukraine are also equipping additional fortifications in the Zhytomyr region with the help of these modules. It regards the Ukrainian-Belarusian border and the territories where active hostilities took place.

The modules are currently used at positions in the districts of Avdiivka, Pokrovska, Zaporizhzhia and Zhytomyr region. It is known that the hundredth structure, which was handed over to the military, will be located near Bakhmut.
