Russians dig trenches in Crimea, near mainland Ukraine
The Russian invaders are building new defensive positions and renovating old trenches in the north of occupied Crimea on the border with mainland Ukraine.
This was reported by OSINT analyst Benjamin Pittet on Twitter.
He released Planet Labs satellite images.
The analyst found out that between August 12 and October 8, the Russians restored old and built new defensive positions at the Chonhar checkpoint on the administrative border between Kherson region and temporarily occupied Crimea.
The situation is the same in the northwestern part of Crimea, near captured Armyansk.
In released images, we can see an excavator digging a new trench.
“Old trenches are renovated and new ones are dug. In this image, we can see an excavator digging a new trench,” analyst Benjamin Pittet wrote.
He also noted that the Russians are also building defense positions in the Novotroitske Henichesk district of the Kherson region.

“Numerous other positions are visible throughout the region. They are building a fortress,” the OSINT analyst wrote about the Kherson region.
Many similar defensive structures can be seen throughout the region.
As previously reported, on November 9, the Russian command announced a retreat from the right bank of the Kherson region and the city of Kherson.
The Russian invaders also destroyed several bridges in the occupied territory of the Mykolayiv and Kherson regions. Russian propagandists explain such actions as the intention to slow down the movement of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the preparation of the Russian Armed Forces to leave the left bank of the Dnipro River.
