The United States has announced new military assistance to Ukraine during a secrecy-shrouded visit of the US Secretary of State and Secretary of Defense to Kyiv on Sunday, European Pravda reported, citing the Associated Press.

The officials’ visit was secrecy-shrouded and was conducted without press for security reasons.

The American news agency refers to its own sources.

During a visit by the US officials to Ukraine’s capital at the highest level since Russia’s full-scale invasion in late February, Anthony Blinken, Secretary of State, and Lloyd Austin, Secretary of Defense have announced a $713 million in foreign military financing for Ukraine and 15 allies and partner countries.

It is noted that approximately $322 million of that is pin-pointed for Kyiv.

The remainder will be split among the NATO members and other nations that have provided Ukraine with critical military supplies since the war with Russia started, US officials said.

Such financing is different from the previous U.S. military assistance for Ukraine.

It is not a donation of drawn-down U.S. Defense Department stockpiles, but the actual funds that the countries could be using to purchase supplies that they might need.

The new funds, along with the purchase of $165 million in non-U.S.-made ammunition that is compatible with Soviet-era weapons the Ukrainians use, would bring the total amount of American military assistance to Ukraine to $3.7 billion since the beginning of the invasion, officials said.

Previously, the United States has invited more than 40 allies to meet and discuss Ukraine’s longer-term security needs. The meeting will happen at the Rammstein Air Base in Germany.
