The Ukrainian military has showcased the wreckage of a downed Russian attack aircraft.

Photos and videos featuring the destroyed military aircraft were published on social networks.

This Russian Su-24M was shot down in the area of the city of Bakhmut, where the Defense Forces of Ukraine are fiercely fighting the Russian invasion forces, who are attempting to completely capture the Donetsk region.

The published footage shows scattered wreckage of the aircraft.

On the wreckage of the tail part of the downed attack aircraft, an inscription with the tail number 48 “Blue” has remained.

The registration number RF-93798 of the Russian Aerospace Forces is also visible on the remains of the aircraft’s vertical tail.

On December 3, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reported that border guards had shot down an enemy plane on the outskirts of Bakhmut. Later it was assumed that it could be a Su-34.

“With an accurate shot, the crew of the MANPADS landed the “bird” of the invaders as soon as it appeared next to the positions of the servicemen of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine,” the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reported.

In the subsequent evening briefing, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed that an enemy aircraft had been shot down near the settlement of Pidhorodne in the Donetsk region. At that time, information about the type of aircraft was being clarified.

According to the Oryx project, which calculates the losses of Russian military equipment in Ukraine based on public photos and videos, Russia has lost at least 7 Su-24M/MR aircraft under various circumstances since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

The Soviet-era Su-24M supersonic attack aircraft is in service with a number of countries. It is designed for targeted missile-bombing strikes on ground and surface targets under any weather and time conditions.

In October, a Su-24 military plane crashed in the Rostov region of Russia. As a result of the fall, the field caught fire, and the aircraft suffered significant damage.
