U.S. new assistance package to Ukraine includes 6 NASAMS SAMs

The Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive 6 NASAMS anti-aircraft missile systems and missiles for them.

This was reported by Ostap Yarysh, a Voice of America journalist.

NASAMS are included in a new $3 billion U.S. military aid package.

Ukraine will receive 245000 rounds for 155mm artillery systems and 65000 rounds for 120mm mortars.

There are also 24 counter-battery radars that must determine several enemy positions at the same time.

Although the type of radar has not been disclosed, the United States previously transferred AN/TPQ-36 counter-battery radars to Ukraine.

AN/TPQ-36 is a mobile counter-battery radar station. A radar is designed to detect and track artillery and missile launches, provide counter-battery fire, and can also be used to adjust the artillery fire of its units.

The Ukrainian military will receive PUMA drones, ScanEagle unmanned aircraft systems, and VAMPIRE anti-drone systems.

Also included in the package are laser-guided missile systems. Details about them have not yet been disclosed.

Recall that in July, the US Department of Defense reported that they had already begun the purchase of NASAMS SAMs, which they promised to transfer to Ukraine.

The NASAMS systems are produced by a consortium of the US-based Raytheon Technologies and the Norwegian Kongsberg group. The system includes launchers, Raytheon AN/MPQ-64F1 Sentinel radar stations from the Raytheon and Kongsberg consortium.

Each mobile launcher has six containers with anti-aircraft missiles. The range of the anti-aircraft system in the NASAMS II configuration using AIM-120С AMRAAM missiles is up to 25 km, and the reach in altitude is up to 14-15 km.
