Ukraine and Poland intend to set up a joint venture to produce military equipment and weapons.

The Government Portal reported about this.

This became known following the meeting of the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal and the Prime Minister of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki, which took place on June 1.

It is reported that Ukraine and Poland have signed a memorandum on the establishment of a commission that will prepare approaches for the establishment of a joint venture for manufacturing weapons and military equipment.

According to Denis Shmygal, this commission will prepare recommendations on the format of establishing the Ukrainian-Polish joint venture for manufacturing weapons and military equipment.

“This will take our defense and military cooperation to a new level and allow us to create modern types of defense weapons,” said the Prime Minister of Ukraine.

Yesterday it became known that Ukraine has signed an agreement to purchase about 60 units of Polish 155-mm Krab self-propelled artillery howitzers.

AHS Krab will be produced at the Huta Stalowa Wola, which is part of the Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa holding.

Shipments will be made in the next few months, currently HSW’s production capacity is 20-30 units per year. The value of the deal is about 3 billion zlotys, Ukraine is the first export customer for this type of weapon.

As it was previously reported, Poland will hand over the 155-mm Krab AHS self-propelled howitzers to Ukraine. This is about getting three batteries – 18 units – of 155 mm self-propelled howitzers. The Polish military has already conducted training for 100 Ukrainian servicemen to operate these weapons.

The licensed British AS90 howitzer turret is being used in the Krab’s production. The barrel length is 52 calibers. It is mounted on the South Korean K9 Thunder ACS chassis.

It is stated that the effective range of fire is 30 kilometers, and the maximum is 40 kilometers.
