Ukraine is creating mobile teams equipped with the Mistral MANPADS

The Armed Forces of Ukraine have received Mistral man-portable anti-aircraft missile systems.

Ukrainian “Come Back Alive” Charitable Foundation published photos of the military equipped with Mistral MANPADS.

Previously, the Kingdom of Norway was announcing its intention to supply Mistral MANPADS to Ukraine.

In April, Norway made a decision to send approximately 100 systems to Ukraine.

However, it is not clear from the message whether it covered the number of launchers or the total number of anti-aircraft missiles transferred together with the launchers.

“Come Back Alive” Foundation has donated vehicles to further equip these systems.

The Foundation is promoting the creation of mobile fire groups with man-portable anti-aircraft missile systems.

Andriy Rymaruk, Head of the Foundation’s military department explains: “Mobile fire groups with MANPADS and ATGMs must be fast. They are destroying enemy drones and helicopters, and in the future, they will also cover the Russian fighter jets – they are working, in particular, with Stingers and 9K38 Igla systems. And this kind of work really needs mobility – that’s why we are donating new, not used, vehicles to those groups. These vehicles are serviceable and fast, and could assist in hitting the moving targets.”

Mistral MANPADS is designed to destroy low-flying helicopters and enemy aircraft.

The development of the missile was subject to the following objectives: a single missile for all modifications, independence of the launch method, and minimally required maintenance.

This MANPADS in various modifications is in the service of the ground forces and fleets of 25 countries.

The MANPADS system includes an air-tight transport and launch container, along with “friend or foe” identification, a power source, and a tripod for its sighting devices.
