Recently, Stormer HVM anti-aircraft missile systems came into service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The first photos of the Ukrainian military with the SAMs were published on social media.

Six units of the Stormer HVM air defense system came to Ukraine from the UK.

On April 25, Defense Secretary Ben Wallace announced his intention to provide British means of air defense to Ukraine.

Hundreds of Starstreak missiles for these air defense systems have been shipped along with the systems.

The Starstreak anti-aircraft missile system is designed to defeat a wide range of air targets.

The system is developed in three variants: SAM (SL) portable one, the one based on a Lightweight Multiple Launcher (LML), and self-propelled one carried on an Alvis Stormer AFV (SP).

The latter is designed to provide air defense for armored units.

All variants of the system use a single Starstreak HVM (High Velocity Missile).

The SP self-propelled version (carried on a Stormer, М113, and Piranha chassis) has a roof-mounted eight-round launcher with internal storage for a further 8 missiles.

It is equipped with Air Defence Acquisition Device (ADAD), an infrared homing guidance system produced by Thales Optronics.

The detection range of jet aircraft-type targets is approximately 18 km, for helicopter-type targets it’s 8 km. Target detection to launch time is less than 5 seconds. On board ammunition includes 12 missiles.
