The Ukrainian military told how Russian military equipment was destroyed with the Fagot anti-tank missile system.

The crews of these ATGMs work daily on the front lines, writes ArmyInform.

In addition to armored vehicles, the ATGM is also used to defeat vehicles and positions of the Russian invasion forces.

“We have been operating with the Fagot ATGM for more than a year in the Donetsk region. Despite the fact that this type of ATGM is already a “grandfather,” this does not prevent us from effectively and accurately destroying enemy IFVs, tanks and “Urals”.

We mostly start working as soon as the sun appears over the horizon and finish at dusk, because the visibility must be quite good,” says Chief Platoon Sergeant Oleksandr of the separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The military says that each position for work with the Fagot is chosen depending on the target, against which it operates.

According to the military, some combat positions can be equipped in a few hours, but sometimes it takes a few weeks.

“Before firing, we always dig trenches and dugouts, and mask the installation itself as much as possible. We set out for the positions at night, but after a shot we can be tracked. In addition, the “birds” of the enemy fly quite often now, so after work we immediately mask Fagot and go to the shelter to save life and health of the crew,” adds serviceman Oleksandr.

The fire range of the ATGM is up to 2.5 kilometers. However, the distance to fire on the battlefield depends on the terrain. According to the military, it is better to work on a target when you see it in binoculars.

“When we are given the coordinates from commanders or aerial intelligence, we simply adjust it to the necessary sector. The shot itself is fired only when we see the target ourselves. This is important because it allows us to hit the enemy accurately and with the first missile,” says Chief Platoon Sergeant Vsevolod.

In recent days, in the Donetsk region, anti-tank gunners Oleksandr and Vsevolod destroyed a building with Fagot. The enemy personnel and a tank that tried to “demolish” Ukrainian trenches were located there.

Fagot ATGM is a Soviet portable anti-tank missile system designed to defeat mobile and stationary targets, such as armored vehicles, shelters, and enemy firing equipment. The system was used in various military conflicts, and now it is used in the Russian-Ukrainian war. ATGM is armed with guided missiles, which provide effective defeat at a distance of 2,000-2,500 meters.
