A mission of French investigators has arrived in Ukraine and will work together with Ukrainian colleagues to document crimes in the de-occupied territories of the Kharkiv region.

The French Embassy in Ukraine reported about this.

The specialists arrived in Kyiv on September 27, along with Catherine Colonna, French Minister of Foreign Affairs.

“Experts from the National Gendarmerie’s Criminal Research Institute have just arrived in Ukraine, and Catherine Colonna, Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, presented them to Prosecutor General Andrii Kostin. From tomorrow on, they will be working on the investigation of crimes in Izium. France stands by Ukraine in the fight against impunity,” the Embassy stated.

On September 15, a mass burial site of the Ukrainian military and civilians was discovered near liberated Izium. On the first day of the exhumation of bodies in the mass buried near Izium, investigators unearthed from the mass grave 17 Ukrainian military personnel and 22 civilians. The work continued until September 23, and 447 bodies were removed from the graves. Most of them have signs of violent death.

Ihor Klymenko, Head of the National Police, claimed that in the territories of the de-occupied Kharkiv region, ten sites where Russian troops had tortured people were discovered.

Recently, two more mass graves were found in de-occupied Izium. Volodymyr Zelensky shared this in his interview with foreign journalists.

As previously reported, French specialists worked together with their Ukrainian counterparts after the de-occupation of the Kyiv region. To investigate the Russian war crimes, France had deployed experts in ballistics, explosives, DNA processing, and other fields to Ukraine.

The Netherlands will also send its investigators to Ukraine. They will assist the International Criminal Court in its investigation.
