Iran has admitted for the first time that it supplied Russia with its drones.

European Pravda writes about this with reference to Reuters.

However Tehran officials say the drones were allegedly sent even before the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine in February this year.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said that a “small number” of drones had been supplied to Russia months before Russian forces invaded Ukraine on February 24.

In Iran’s most detailed response to date on drones, Amir-Abdollahian countered that Tehran continues to supply drones to Moscow.

“With regard to the drones, this is true, and we provided Russia with a small number of drones in the months before the war in Ukraine,” he said.

In fact, these statements are at odds with reality. Recently, Russia has been massively using kamikaze drones for attacks on Ukraine, which have been identified as Iranian Shahed-136 and Shahed-131, the Russians gave them the name Geran-2 and Geran-1, respectively. Also, Ukrainian forces shot down and captured at least one multi-purpose drone made by Iranian Mohajer-6. There are also reports that Iran is preparing to hand over tactical ballistic missiles to Russia.

It is known that for the supply of drones to Russia now Iran uses two main logistics routes: air and sea. Most air traffic is carried out using Il-76 cargo aircraft. Sea supplies take place through the Caspian Sea.

On November 3, at a meeting of foreign ministers of the G7 countries, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba demonstrated part of the Iranian-made UAV and said that Iran should be responsible for its actions.

“Iran must stop supplying Russia with weapons used to kill Ukrainians, or face even tougher global pressure and consequences,” the minister wrote on Twitter.

Also, through diplomatic channels, Iran was warned about the consequences of sending new weapons to Russia.

According to the media, Iran is asking Russia for help in developing its nuclear program. According to representatives of American intelligence, Iran turned to Russia for help in acquiring additional nuclear materials and in the manufacture of nuclear fuel.
