A Swiss-made MOWAG Eagle armored vehicle was spotted in the city of Chasiv Yar near Bakhmut.

NMFTE telegram channel analysts published this news.

The Eagle armored vehicles of different versions were delivered to several European countries. However, the early models, one of which is captured in the photo, were in service only in Switzerland and Denmark. The latter might be a likely donor of these armored vehicles for the Ukrainian military.

Denmark ordered 36 Eagle I armored vehicles in 1994, which were delivered to the customer between 1995 and 1997. The vehicles received the name Spejdervogn M/95 in the Danish military.

The MOWAG Eagle is a Swiss-made wheeled armored vehicle developed by the Swiss MOWAG corporation. There are currently five generations of this vehicle.

The armored vehicle seen in the photo presumably belongs to the first generation of this vehicle, which was manufactured by Mowag on the chassis of the second-generation HMMWV army SUV.

The vehicle is equipped with an 8-cylinder diesel General Motors 6.5L power 195 horsepower engine and automatic 4-speed Hydramatic 4L80E gearbox. The vehicle’s range is 300 kilometers.

The armor protection of the vehicle can withstand the hit of 7.62mm rounds at a distance of up to 30 m, and protect the crew from armor-piercing bullets of light rifle weapons at a distance of 100 meters.

A machine gun turret armed with a 7.62mm machine gun and six smoke grenade launchers are installed on board. The last ones can be activated from inside the vehicle. The crew consists of a driver and three passengers.

The large unification of undercarriage assemblies with late American army SUVs, hundreds of which are now in service with the Defense Forces, is a significant advantage. After all, this allows simplifying logistics and, in case of malfunction, repairing the car with spare parts available on the front line.

Thus, mobile repair stations specializing in the maintenance and repair of NATO-types automotive equipment, specifically HMMWV multi-purpose wheeled vehicles, are now operating in the rear of the Ukrainian troops.

The repair station is able to perform a wide range of tasks autonomously: replacement of the engine, gearbox, brake system, cooling or air conditioning system.

“And it’s not about changing the oil or a scratched body, but about HMMWVs that were blown up by mines and needed to have their engines or gearboxes replaced,” the Charitable Foundation said.
