To resist the Russian full-scale invasion, the Ukrainian military uses various types of weapons coming from different countries of the world that have volunteered to support Ukraine by supplying weapons and ammunition.

In particular, Germany has handed over MARS II MLRS to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The images show the firing position and the deployment of the launcher to the combat position and the operation of the service.

Mars II MLRS (Mittlere Artillerie Raketen System) is a German multiple rocket launcher adopted by the Bundeswehr in 1990.

This launcher is basically a licensed copy of the American M270 MLRS with minor modifications.

The mass of MARS II is about 26 tons, length is 6.97 m, width is 2.94 m, height is 2.59 m, ground clearance is 45 cm. The maximum speed on the highway reaches 64 km/h, while cross-country is 48 km/h, with a range of 480 km.

The rotary launch platform, located behind the cabin of the crew, which consists of three people, the artillery unit of Mars II consists of two disposable units, each housing six transport and launch containers with rocket-propelled ammunition.

Targets can be hit at a maximum range of 45,000 – 70,000 m, depending on the ammunition.

Mars II is designed to destroy clusters of enemy manpower and equipment, artillery batteries, air defenses, command posts, and communications, as well as to set up the minefields through remote mining.

According to the German government, at the moment Ukraine has 5 units of MARS II MLRS.

Previously, the German government published a list of military aid to Ukraine, which included ammunition for MARS II.
