The Ukroboronprom State Concern established the production of 122mm artillery rounds in cooperation with one of the NATO countries.

It is noted that a batch of ammunition was already shipped to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The concern’s press service shared this in their message.

“This is the third type of ammunition after 120mm mortar rounds and 125mm tank rounds, which is manufactured using Ukrainian technology and with the involvement of Ukrainian niche specialists at foreign facilities,” Ukroboronprom reported.

It is emphasized that the contract was preceded by factory tests, which confirmed the necessary tactical and technical characteristics of the projectile – the strength of the hull when fired, the stability of the munitions, the maximum firing range, the accuracy, and the completeness of the projectile’s rupture.

“It is characteristic that the number of fragments significantly exceeds the fragmentation of the standard “Soviet” model,” the Concern reported.

Ukrainian gunners use the 122 mm projectile for D-30 towed howitzers and 2S1 Gvozdika self-propelled howitzers.

Ukroboronprom also deployed serial production of 82mm HE fragmentation mortar rounds. The Ukrainian military has already received such rounds in early February.

In November last year, the concern also established the production of 152mm artillery rounds. This was a joint work of the Ukroboronprom concern and the enterprises that are part of it.

Previously, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine launched the process of turning the concern into the Ukrainian Defense Industry joint-stock company.
