Ukroboronprom started production of 125-mm tank rounds

Ukroboronprom State Concern started production of 125-mm ammunition for tank guns.

The press service of the concern reported this.

They added that this is the second munition to be produced in close partnership with a NATO country outside of Ukraine.

“By order of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the first batch of 125-mm ammunition for T-64, T-72, and T-80 tanks, with which the Security Service of Ukraine and Defense Forces of Ukraine are hitting the invaders, has already been delivered,” Ukroboronprom reported.

First of all, this regards the release of high-explosive fragmentation shells for tank guns, a photo of which was presented by Ukroboronprom.

The concern emphasized that Ukraine generally launched its own production of ammunition for various weapons for the first time since gaining independence.

The release of 82-mm and 120-mm mortar rounds, artillery rounds to 122-mm and 152-mm caliber artillery systems, and now 125-mm tank shells have been established.

The main purpose of high-explosive incendiary (HEI) is to destroy the enemy’s manpower and military equipment, destroy its field fortifications, and solve other tasks on the battlefield.

At the same time, the production of ammunition was deployed outside of Ukraine for security reasons.

However, according to the press service of the concern, Ukrainian specialists, including engineers, technologists, turners, foundries, etc., are involved in the development of ammunition.

Previously, Ukroboronprom signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine to supply 120mm mortar rounds, which are also manufactured in cooperation with one of the participating countries of the North Atlantic Alliance. The Ukrainian military also received 82mm mortar rounds produced by the state concern.

In addition, at the beginning of November 2022, Oleksii Reznikov, Minister of Defense of Ukraine, stated that the defense industry of Ukraine established the production of 122-mm and 152-mm artillery shells.
